I’m looking for a measure of the valence of a facial expression that can distinguish between mild and extreme emotions (e.g., where a big smile produces a higher value than a small smile). The “valence” metric works great at identifying smiles and frowns, but it saturates pretty quickly (e.g., both a big and small smile give a valence of +100). Is there a setting I could change or an alternate metric I should try? I’m guessing this is not platform-specific, but just in case: I’m using the Unity SDK.
Re-ping! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hi. The valence metric is definitely a very simplified indication of the overall emotional positivity/negativity, as you have noticed. If you want a more nuanced analysis, I think you’d want to look at the outputs for various individual expressions and emotions.
